FEE STRUCTURES IN THE 21ST CENTURY
Attorney's Fees
Our firm values transparency. To this end, we've created simple-to-understand billing with explanatory details to help you understand how we're spending our time for your benefit.
Hourly Billing
Our firm charges $450 per hour for legal services. However, to make our services more accessible, we provide a sliding scale based on verifiable income.
Retainers: $5,000-$20,000
$450 per hour (standard partner)
$300 per hour (staff attorney)
$650 per hour (expedited legal services)
Mixed Billing Structure
A mixed structure is a flat fee + a percentage of the settlement or judgment.
Percentage: 20-30% of settlement or judgment
Flat Fees: $2,500-$15,000
Example: $2,500 + 20% settlement - costs
Our firm may offer you a mixed billing structure: a smaller upfront retainer with a percentage of proceeds from the settlement or judgment.
Flat Fee Billing
Our firm charges flat rates for limited scope representation (i.e. contract review, non-litigation representation, and legal counseling).
Flat Rates: $4,500 +
**Please note that some types of cases are not suitable for flat rate billing.**
Contingency
35% of Settlement Value + Costs of Litigation
A contingency fee arrangement is where the attorney is paid from the proceeds of the case settlement or judgment. This type of arrangement is common in civil rights litigation, but requires the firm to take on most of the risk associated with litigation. The firm may require a retainer to cover the costs of litigation (i.e. filing fees, printing/mailing fees, etc.).
Please see the example below for illustrative purposes only.
Settlement Amount: $100,000
Litigation Costs: $12,000
Attorney's Fees: $35,000
Net to Client: $53,000
