Hi! I'm Angie Holloway.
I lawyer a little differently.
I’m a healthcare attorney helping physicians and medical practice owners make smart business and legal decisions without the scare tactics, legalese, or unnecessary legal bills.

Nearly 10 years practicing law. One pretty strong opinion about how it should be done: without the ick.

HOW HEALTHCARE LAW FOUND ME
I learned early that caring for people can cost you.

My grandmother raised me, and she was a nurse for over 40 years.
I watched her take extraordinary care of other people, often at the expense of taking care of herself.

For a long time, I thought that was simply what dedication looked like.
Meet my favorite coworker, Grover.
9 years old. Boxer-Lab mix.
Contributes very little to the billable work.
01 · WHAT I HAD TO UNLEARN
Somewhere along the way, sacrifice became synonymous with success.
I carried that lesson into law. Work harder. Stay later. Push through. For nearly two years, I worked 70-hour weeks and high-stress cases while dealing with daily vomiting, sleeplessness, and unexplained GI issues.

And I kept working.

Eventually, I had to confront something I probably should have figured out much sooner:
Working yourself into the ground doesn't make you better at your job.
02 · THEN I BECAME THE PATIENT
The way I thought about healthcare changed, too.
When the traditional healthcare system wasn't giving me the answers I needed, I started looking outside of it. I became a patient of cash-pay practices and worked with physicians who approached my care differently, holistically.

It wasn't just that the model was different. But, that the physician had time to figure out what 6 specialists before her couldn't.
Someone had decided medicine didn't have to be practiced the way it had always been practiced.
03 · SO I MADE THE SAME DECISION ABOUT LAW
And that's probably why I understand physicians who want to do the same.
I stopped accepting that exhaustion was simply the price of being a good lawyer. I started questioning the parts of traditional legal practice that didn't serve my clients or me.

The hourly billing. The unnecessary complexity. The performative legal work. The idea that being constantly overwhelmed somehow meant you were important.

I built something different instead.
I don't see private practice as simply starting a business. For many of the physicians I work with, it's a decision to take back some control over how they practice, who they serve, what their time is worth, and what kind of life medicine gets to occupy.

I get that.

Because in my own way, that's exactly what I did too.
THINGS I BELIEVE ABOUT HEALTHCARE LAWYERING
A few opinions I have after nearly a decade of doing this.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
Working with your lawyer shouldn't feel like another problem to manage.
01
You talk to your lawyer.
If you hire me for legal advice, you get legal advice from me. No maze of associates and no wondering who is actually handling your matter.
THE ICK I SKIP: The handoff.
03
You get an actual answer.
I'll give you the options, tell you what I recommend, and explain why. Sometimes the answer is “do this now.” Sometimes it's “this can wait.” Both are legal advice.
THE ICK I SKIP: The 12-page non-answer.
02
You know what it costs.
I use flat fees only, so we can focus on solving the problem, not how many six-minute increments it took to get there.
THE ICK I SKIP: The mystery bill.
04
You understand what happens next.
My job isn't finished when I identify the legal issue. I want you to understand what it means for your practice and what you should actually do about it.
THE ICK I SKIP: Legal advice you can't use.
There is, allegedly, life outside of law.
When I’m not helping physicians build and protect their practices, there’s a pretty good chance I’m lifting something heavy, reading a whodunnit, planning my next trip, or looking for a really good glass of Cabernet.
